Danielle Shook DNP, APRN, NP-C, MSCP

I am a doctorally prepared, nationally certified Family Nurse Practitioner and a Menopause Society certified practitioner. I have a diverse background in inpatient obstetrics, outpatient hospice, family practice, and urgent care. Since 2016, I have successfully operated a house call practice nestled in the mountains of Colorado.

My passion lies in empowering women navigating perimenopause and menopause to truly thrive during what I believe to be one of the most enriching phases of our lives.

Services

Our services are designed to be straightforward, cost-effective, and conveniently accessible. Although we do not bill insurance directly, we will provide you with a comprehensive receipt for you to submit independently. Please be aware that we are opted out of Medicare, meaning the receipt will need to be submitted to your secondary insurance provider.

Initial Comprehensive Visit - $250

Follow up visits - $150

Prescription refill visits - $45

FAQ

do you take insurance?

We are private pay. While we do not bill insurance directly, if requested, we will provide you with a detailed superbill (receipt) that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. We accept debit cards, credit cards and Health Savings Account Cards.

We are opted out of Medicare. Medicare will not reimburse for our services but if a superbill is requested, it can be sent to your secondary insurance.

What states do you serve?

At this time, we are able to see patients in Colorado and Arizona but will be expanding to other states soon!

what is telehealth?

Telehealth allows you to discuss symptoms and medical issues with a healthcare provider by phone or video. Using telehealth, you can receive a diagnosis, learn your treatment options, and get a prescription if indicated. 

am i too old or young for treatment?

No, you deserve to feel your best at any age! Did you know that perimenopausal symptoms can start in your 30’s? The initial Women’s Health Initiative study did a disservice to many women. Women who missed out of hormone replacement therapy based on incomplete research. There is an optimal window of treatment but treatment options are available to all women of all ages! 

Can I ask questions about my medical issues without an appointment?

We cannot answer any questions about your care until we review your personal health history, listen to your concerns, and ask you about your symptoms. For this reason we recommend making an appointment and bringing a list of your questions to the first visit.

do you prescribe testosterone for women?

After reviewing your medical history and discussing your concerns, testosterone can be prescribed if indicated. A prescription will be sent to your local compounding pharmacy or pharmacy. If testosterone is prescribed, lab work will be required before and after treatment is started. The prescription will be determined during the follow up appointment.

what types of treatment do you provide?

Treatment for perimenopause and menopause include bio-identical hormone which can be obtained through your pharmacy or compounding pharmacy. There are also many non-hormone treatments available for women. The options are vast and will be individualized for you.

What about in person care like lab work, mammograms and pap smears?

It is strongly encouraged that you follow the guidelines on when and if you need pap smears or mammograms with your primary care provider or OBGYN. There is a place on the intake form to upload those results. As for lab work, it will be ordered after our initial appointment.

Menopause

The menopause transition is a natural event that is confirmed after one year of no menstrual bleeding. Menopause can also happen suddenly due to surgery or cancer treatments. There are many symptoms that can be confusing and uncomfortable, but there is help! Hormonal therapy as well as non-hormonal therapies can ensure that your next stage of your life is vibrant! 

Perimenopause

Perimenopause marks the transition leading to menopause and can begin in your mid-30s. During this phase, you may experience hormonal fluctuations and a decrease in hormone levels, which can lead to discomfort and a sense of not feeling like yourself. Fortunately, support, hormonal and non-hormonal treatments are available to help you navigate this stage, and feel your best! 

Sexual Health

Navigating sexual health can be challenging for those in perimenopause and menopause, as many face issues like discomfort and reduced libido during these periods. However, there are numerous, effective approaches available to help manage and improve these challenges. Believe it or not… you sex life can be better than ever in menopause!

Vaginal Health

Several changes occur during perimenopause and menopause that can cause vaginal discomfort. Dryness, pain, incontinence and frequent UTI’s are common concerns.
